Flights are strictly regulated by the Egyptian Civil Aviation Authority (ECAA) and will be grounded if wind speeds exceed 8 knots (about 15 km/h) or if there is poor visibility (like fog). If your flight is canceled, you will be offered the chance to reschedule for the next morning or receive a full refund. Tip: We strongly recommend booking your balloon flight for your very first morning in Luxor. This gives you backup days to reschedule in case of a weather cancellation.

Yes. For safety reasons, the minimum age to fly is 6 years old, and children must be tall enough to see over the edge of the basket. Regarding weight, standard basket compartments are engineered based on an average passenger weight of around 100 kg (220 lbs). If a passenger significantly exceeds this limit, they may be required to pay a surcharge or purchase two tickets, as they safely occupy the physical space and lift capacity intended for two standard passengers.

It is highly unlikely. Once the balloon leaves the ground, it moves at the exact same speed as the surrounding air currents, meaning there is zero turbulence, swaying, or mechanical feeling of motion. The basket hangs perfectly motionless in the air mass, resulting in a gentle, tranquil flight. Furthermore, because there is no physical connection to the ground (like looking down from a tall building), your brain does not register the same relative perspective, meaning passengers rarely experience vertigo or a fear of heights.

Comfort and layers are key. Early mornings in the desert can be quite chilly before dawn (especially from October to March), so wearing a light jacket or sweater is highly recommended. However, once the sun comes up and the balloon's propane burners are firing, it warms up quickly. You must wear sturdy, closed-toe shoes or trainers (no high heels or sandals) because you will be climbing into the basket and may land in a dirt field or sandy terrain. A hat is also advised to protect your head from the radiant heat of the gas burners above you.
